What services are included under Support at Home?
A simple guide to the types of support you can access — and how it’s approved.

✅ What is Support at Home?
Support at Home is designed to help you stay safe, independent, and well at home for as long as possible.
The services available generally fall into three main categories:
- Clinical Supports (health and care needs)
- Independence Supports (help with daily living and staying active)
- Everyday Living Supports (help around the home)
Important: You can only receive services that are assessed as needed and included in your support plan.
🩺 1) Clinical Supports
These services support your health, medical needs, and care coordination.
Examples include:
✅ Nursing care (e.g., wound care, medication support, monitoring)
✅ Allied health (e.g., physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry)
✅ Nutrition support (e.g., dietitian services)
✅ Care management (help coordinating services and supports)
✅ Restorative care management (short-term support focused on improving function)
Best for: health needs, medical support, recovery, and clinical monitoring.
🚶 2) Independence Supports
These services help you maintain independence, personal wellbeing, and stay connected.
Examples include:
✅ Personal care (showering, dressing, grooming)
✅ Respite care (support for carers and short breaks)
✅ Transport (appointments, shopping, outings)
✅ Therapeutic services (support to improve function or wellbeing)
✅ Social support & community engagement
✅ Assistive technology & home modifications (equipment or changes to make your home safer)
Best for: staying active, keeping routines, staying connected, and managing daily tasks.
🏡 3) Everyday Living Supports
These services help with home tasks so you can live comfortably and safely.
Examples include:
✅ Domestic assistance (cleaning, laundry, tidying)
✅ Meals (meal preparation and meal supports)
✅ Home maintenance and repairs (basic help around the home)
Best for: keeping your home safe, clean, and manageable.
⭐ What’s NOT automatically included?
Even though these services exist, they’re not automatic.
To receive a service, it must be:
✅ identified during your assessment
✅ listed in your Support Plan
✅ covered by your funding level and budget
Example:
You might be funded at a certain level, but you won’t automatically receive home mods or allied health unless they’re approved in your plan.

- You complete an assessment
- You receive a Support Plan and funding level
- You choose a provider
- Services are delivered based on what’s included in your plan and budget

Can I choose any service I want?
Not always — services must be assessed and approved in your plan.
Can I change my services later?
Yes. If your needs change, you can request:
- a plan review
- reassessment
- or changes through your provider (where appropriate)
What if I want help urgently?
Some people choose Private Care to start support quickly, especially while waiting for approvals.
